Gals, pack clear nail polish 1

Seriously…
even if you’re not the type to polish your nails. It’s not for your nails.
(I’m not into polish, by the way, and have a better way to keep my nails looking nice as I travel.)

Clear nail polish and the hole in my stocking

Clear nail polish to the rescue — even while traveling.

Remember the old trick of putting nail polish around a tear in your stockings?
That’s what it’s for!

Confession: when my friend Elena-Beth lovingly gave me a tiny kit full of miniature emergency stuff, my first thought was to give her back the tiny glass of clear nail polish. After all, it’s (a) glass and (b) so bound to spill and make a heck of a mess. But, I happen to pack all such containers into plastic bins and this was so small it would fit between other contains or tubes and not take any valuable room. So I took it.

And you know what?
Today I needed it and used it. And I am very happy to have it!
(Thank you, Elena-Beth!)

I know… you’re not going to wear stockings. You’re not even packing any. But even if you’re planning on traveling summer to summer, totally avoiding the colder weather — as I was — you may find yourself wishing for some leg covering warmth. Also, having a pair of tights to cover your legs is a really good idea for when you go to religious places. So I highly recommend rolling at least one pair of tan stockings and a pair of black opaque tights into a zip locking bag and stuffing them into a gap in your backpack or bag. And then, for when they start to wear out or when your rough feet get the best of them, you’re ready with your tiny sample size of clear nail polish. And now you’re ready for so many more experiences as you travel!
