Veteran’s Day Free Inns & B&Bs for vets

B&B are a great way to travel and this is a nice thank you to our troops.

The 4th Annual B&Bs for Vets program.

(The info and quote I am sharing here is from a press release I received.)

Inns and B&Bs throughout the U.S. and Canada will honor men and women who’ve served in the armed forces by offering thousands of veterans and their guest (family?) complimentary stays on n Veteran’s Day — November 11, 2021.

The complete list of participating inns and B&Bs in the USA: bnbsforvets.org.
The list of participating inns in Canada is at: bbcanada.com/bbforvets

In addition, Salute our Heroes special offers for veterans and those serving in the military are also found on BnBFinder.com.

Many of the participating inns and B&Bs are donating all their guest rooms for free stays for veterans on November 12, 2012. Others are offering special military discounts throughout the weekend.

Veterans are asked to contact the inn/B&B in which they wish to stay. Proof of military service will be requested. (The press release I received doesn’t state whether this is only for active military.)

Over the tenure of the B&Bs for Vets program, thousands of room nights have been donated to veterans and their families. This year more than 1000 inns and B&Bs across the U.S. and Canada are expected to once again open their doors in the largest Veteran’s Day hospitality effort known.

"I have served for over 20 years, and have been privy to many expressions of gratitude by businesses and individuals. Vets who are lucky enough to participate in this program are treated like family, and the experience is one that many could not afford without the program," said SFC David Cogdill, when he was temporarily stationed at Fort Stewart in Georgia. "It's exactly the respite they need from a career that has kept many in combat zones for multiple tours," finished Cogdill.

The B&Bs for Vets program started in 2008 when Kathleen Panek, co-owner of the Gillum House, and a handful of other innkeepers in West Virginia opened their doors to veterans in honor of Veteran’s Day.

Starting last year, the Professional Association of Innkeepers International began coordinating the B&Bs for Vets program as part of the Better Way To Stay branding campaign in conjunction with BBCanada.com to thank veterans and introduce them to today’s B&B experience.
